Bank Pekao S.A. has become the sponsor of the Royal Castle in Warsaw for another year in a row.
As a patron of culture, Bank Pekao actively supports artistic initiatives and projects that promote art. It also establishes relationships with the country's most important cultural institutions. One of the Bank's first permanent partners is the Royal Castle in Warsaw, with which it has just signed an agreement extending its cooperation through this year. From 2022, Pekao will support the museum through both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
Supporting Culture
Bank Pekao has supported and promoted art for years, and considers investing in it to be an element of its social responsibility. In recent years, it has undertaken a number of activities aimed at strengthening and promoting its image as a patron of the arts and an institution co-responsible for promoting Polish cultural heritage at home and abroad.
"For four years, Bank Pekao has been a sponsor of the Royal Castle in Warsaw – one of the most important cultural institutions in Poland, setting standards in the protection and promotion of national heritage. This partnership is a conscious choice for us, consistent with our long-term strategy of building value through culture and social responsibility. As a financial institution with over 95 years of history, we consistently support artistic initiatives, treating investing in culture as part of our mission and responsibility to society. This season, the Royal Castle has once again prepared a program of exhibitions and events of high professional and artistic importance. We are pleased to be a partner in these endeavors and enhance their standing." comments Monika Gondek, Director of the Sponsorship, Events, and Image Office at Bank Pekao S.A.
In November 2021, Bank Pekao donated a work of art from its own collection to the Royal Castle in Warsaw, which had been on display in the Castle's chambers for nearly thirty years. The Castle received a 16th-century tapestry by Cornelis de Ronde entitled "The Abduction of Helen by Paris." That same year, Bank Pekao also made a specific donation to the Castle. Using the funds raised from the donation, the Castle made impressive purchases of Meissen porcelain for its collection. The Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Meissen was the first porcelain factory in Europe, and was promoted by King Augustus II. Purchases were made at auctions across Europe, particularly in Great Britain and Germany, and included, among other items, unique porcelain pieces from the first half of the 18th century.
Bank Pekao's collaboration with the Royal Castle is reflected in permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as in cultural events in the capital and initiatives aimed at its residents.
"Continuing our collaboration with Bank Pekao provides significant support in delivering an attractive cultural offering to the general public. Thanks to this, we can develop educational and exhibition projects that enrich the experience of our guests" says Olga Baron, Deputy Director of Marketing at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
This season, visitors to the Royal Castle will be able to view, among other things, temporary exhibitions. Among them, the exhibition "Łukasz Stokłosa. The Shining," which is worth noting, is open to visitors until October 31st. The artist captures the interiors of the Venetian Ca'Rezzonico, Charlottenburg, Fontainebleau, Versailles, the Royal Łazienki Park, and the Royal Castle in Warsaw in his photographs. Łukasz Stokłosa's paintings are a commentary on the historical paintings ubiquitous on the Castle's walls. They encourage us, the audience, to reflect on the significance and role of these former residences of power.
Starting March 27th, visitors can admire "The Last Castle. Polish Castle Purity: From Wawel to Stobnica," an exhibition devoted to contemporary Polish castles—their forms, functions, and meanings. The project examines why this medieval typology continues to attract investors and architects.
