Bank volunteers make those in need smile at Christmas and beyond

The pre-holiday period became a time of heightened social engagement for Bank Pekao S.A. employees. By implementing initiatives aimed at children, seniors, and animals, bank volunteers demonstrated that volunteering is a lasting element of the organizational culture and effectively responds to the needs of local communities.

For years, Pekao employees have been actively involved in social initiatives aimed at supporting those in need. This year's pre-holiday activities included outreach activities carried out in collaboration with the SOS Children's Villages Association.

Volunteers participated in a St. Nicholas Day gift drive for over 500 children – children under the association's care from Siedlce, Karlino, Ustroń, Biłgoraj, and Kraśnik, as well as from childcare facilities in Warsaw. The scale of the activities made each volunteer feel like a superhero, making a real difference in the smiles of the youngest children.

"Employee volunteering is more than just one-off outreach activities. This is a long-term commitment to building a responsible organization where employees have a real impact on their social environment. For years, we have consistently supported those in need, and we see an increasing number of employees actively participating in initiatives, dedicating their time to others. The pre-holiday activities of our volunteers demonstrate the power of shared commitment and the great good that can be achieved through cooperation" says Aneta Szymańska, Director of the Organizational Culture Office at Bank Pekao S.A.

The pre-holiday volunteering activity also extended to the macroregional management team. The holiday gathering was transformed into a symbolic "factory of goodness," during which 1,200 gifts were prepared for children from Warsaw childcare centers, toddlers from a public preschool, and seniors from the Warsaw Care and Treatment Center. Additionally, volunteers made 10 soft beds for animals using recycled bank banners.

Employee volunteering has been active at Bank Pekao S.A. since 2018 and is an integral part of the bank's organizational culture. It includes educational projects for children, youth, and seniors, cybersecurity workshops, first aid training, initiatives supporting children from orphanages, and environmental protection initiatives.
